Application Submission: January 13, 2025 to March 31, 2025 Final Notification: April 14, 2025, Monday, 5:00 pm, U.S. Pacific Standard Time (PST) Scholarship Award: May 27-28, 2025 at the 8th International Conference (onsite or virtual) at the University of California, Berkeley. Attending the scholarship award event is not mandatory but is considered an honor for the applicant. The International Student-Athlete Scholarship Awards, funded by Xplore Nations, Inc., a U.S.-registered non-profit organization and official sponsor of the International Organization for Health, Sports, and Kinesiology, aim to inspire high school student-athletes aged 15 to 18 at the time of submission, whether enrolled in private, public, charter, or home schools. The program seeks to support and encourage these young individuals to excel academically and athletically, demonstrate leadership and commitment as student-athletes, and serve as role models for their peers, fostering a culture of academic achievement and active, healthy lifestyles. IOHSK International Student-Athlete Scholarship Awards are available for high school students who are nominated and recommended by registered IOHSK members. These merit-based scholarships range from $300 to $1,000 and require applicants to meet the following criteria: (a) Must be recommended by a registered 2025 IOHSK member. The applicant must connect with an IOHSK member who will serve as their recommender and nominator for the scholarship award. The recommender will provide the applicant with their IOHSK membership number, which is required for completing the application form. Each IOHSK member may recommend and nominate up to two applicants for this scholarship/award in 2025. (b) Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.60 on a 4.00 scale. An official copy of the transcript must be uploaded in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format. If selected for the scholarship award, an official copy of the transcript may be required for final approval. (c) Applicants must request a teacher or coach to write a signed letter of recommendation. The letter, to be submitted in PDF format, should include the recommender's relationship with the applicant, the duration of the relationship, the applicant's strengths, and their contributions to the school and/or team or club. The applicant is responsible for obtaining the letter of recommendation and ensuring its submission as part of the application process. (d) The applicant must submit a 300-word essay discussing the benefits and challenges of being a student-athlete, along with strategies for effectively managing these challenges. (e) Please provide a list detailing your participation in athletic events and activities, along with your achievements. (f) Upload a headshot for publicity purposes.
