Description:
Come join our teenage rebellion against low expectations in Do Hard Things. College preperation, personal leadership, virtue, character, and goal-setting are among the topics of focus in this class and form the basis of book discussions and writing topics. In keeping with the theme of doing hard things, first semester will include in-depth writing and grammar assignments, including instruction on creating a shell of an argument and developing it into a full essay. Scholars are advised to bring other writing assignments from other classes, as their assigned writing, instead of adding new writing to their schedules.
Second semester tackles public speaking and public leadership skills; and the entire year includes a survey of British literature. Additional work includes but is not limited to: writing an autobiography or memoir, preparing and giving presentations, and keeping a Commonplace Book.
Pre-requisites: Junior and Senior in High School only.

Homework:
Scholars can expect to spend 2-3 hours per week outside of class on weekly assignments and reading. It is advisable for parents and scholars to make a weekly schedule to help students achieve their goals and not fall behind in other subjects.
