Red kiwi harvested in season averages 18brix (22brix after ripening), and has a relatively high sugar content compared to commercially available green kiwi (12brix) and gold kiwi (15brix) with golden flesh.

Red kiwifruit is 54kcal per 100g, which is low in calories compared to high sugar content. Compared to the same kiwi (gold kiwi 55kcal, green kiwi 60kcal), it has low calories, and even compared to fruits harvested at the same time (apple 100g 57kcal), it has lower calories.
