The Counselor is a Masters Level Clinician, licensed or in process, who provides mental health support and treatment to Kindred Life teen parents and their families, empowering them to thrive socially and emotionally.

The Counselor works in partnership with the Program Director at the respective site to coordinate the provision to clients of individual counseling weekly or bi-weekly and group counseling monthly. The Counselor schedules and provides both individual and monthly group counseling to clients and maintains case records and notes that meet the community standard. The Counselor also maintains the confidentiality of client records at all times.

* Counselor will provide individual, 50 minute counseling sessions to 3-4 teen mothers, or fathers, weekly at the respective site as well as one group counseling session per month. Fifteen minutes will be allotted for case notes for individual sessions and one hour for group sessions.

* Counselor assists with training site location staff and volunteers on client-related issues when needed.

* Counselor attends staff meetings (as able to) and annual staff retreat.

* Counselor is committed to weekly attendance at Life Education Group throughout the program year unless otherwise arranged with the supervising therapist. The counselor provides an abbreviated counseling schedule during the summer months of June, July, and August.

* Counselor represents the organization in a professional manner, advocating for the agency and mission whenever possible.

Counselor position requires the following qualifications:

* A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.

* Licensure is required at a professional level; a clinical level license is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate would have a strong, Christian faith and be able to integrate Christian principles in their counseling and address a client’s faith issues as desired by the client.

* A candidate would need to be able to function well in a multi-disciplinary setting with both paid staff and volunteers.

* Strong verbal and written skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google would be helpful. The position is a part-time position, approximately 4-6 hours weekly during the months of September through May, and approximately 4-6 hours monthly during the summer months of June, July, and August.

KINDRED LIFE MINISTRIES Counselor Employment Agreement

Site: The Chapel, Mundelein or Village Church of Gurnee, Gurnee

Pay rate: $25.00 per hour for counseling services, including tele-health and phone consultation, and case notes, 4-5 hours per week.

$15.00 per hour, in quarter hour increments, for staff and volunteer orientation and training, staff meetings and other team meetings with KL staff and volunteers.

If licensure is pending, completion of requirements will occur before contract is renewed. Counselor will complete or furnish the following;

Kindred Life will provide bi-monthly supervision, both individual and peer, by Supervising Social Worker.
